Thursday, December 15, 2022 – Shy McElroy presented on lead poisoning prevention efforts in Milwaukee. Shy works for the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities as a community organizer for the Coalition on Lead Emergency (COLE). In this role she does outreach and education on lead poisoning. Since lead poisoning is a cause of developmental disabilities, the effort raises awareness about early screening, works to increase screening in child care and health care, and supports families to advocate for screening/testing.
